Management starts at Self

As students of Business School, we are literally entwined with the term ‘Management’. It is splashed across every book we go through and is cast off by every professor who teaches us.

It’s essence is present in different aspects of our daily lives, but only a few of us recognise it.

We all agree that  Management is mandatory at any organisation, but what’s essential is that it should be carried out by all individuals even at a personal level. When one learns to manage himself in a better manner, other things flow naturally. There are different kinds of management skills that one should be equipped with at all times, such as:

• Time Management:

 Needless to say, we all have 24 hours in a day to do whatever we want. It means that this has to be wisely used  to reached college on time, relax with our family & friends, run errands and spend it on an another important stressbuster these days i.e. The internet.

                   

• Financial Management:

Budget, a term that all we all college goers are familiar with. We must be able to spend it sensibly i.e. Visit places, try different cuisines & save or invest a little portion of our income. The same knowledge can come handy later on when we earn and have to manage a larger sum.

• Micro-Level Management:

This involves learning to communicate well with our peers. It is important that we know when to say Yes/No to an invitation and when to complete one work before committing to another. Body language also plays a role here, it is by the way we respond that the other individual understands us. Also remember, being a little efficient with tasks at hand can also spare us a great deal of time in future. Micro level tasks directly or indirectly affect the other two skills.

These management skills are quite easy to follow if we pay a little attention to ourselves.It is imperative that we also manage ourselves at an emotional and physical level. This is because our emotional intelligence and physical abilities also determine the kind of work we take up.To improve ourselves here, we can take up a sport, read, pursue hobbies etc.For it is only when we work on ourselves can we hope to perform triumphantly. Thus, Management does start at Self!

MINDSCAPE 2016 - 13th edition of Success

MINDSCAPE, a case study competition for Industry-Institute Interaction, was organized at Audyogik Shikshan Mandal Campus in Pimpri, Pune on 23rd October; 2016.

Mr R. N. Nalbalwar, Sr. VP-ER Aditya Birla Corporation, was the chief guest for the Inaugural function of the event. Dr Asha Pachpande, Founder secretary and Director of ASM was the Chairperson on the occasion.

Mr. Nalbalwar, his address to the audience, emphasized on the necessity for Industry-Institute interactions and appreciated the unique initiative by ASM Group for organizing the Mindscape Case Study Competition.

The Competition between the various industry teams was extremely intense and interesting! Dr Santosh Dastane, Mr Shyam Ozarkar & Mr Dinesh Bagade (GM & DGM, MVML, Chakan) Mr Atul Badkas (DGM L&D Endurance Tech), Prof. Asheesh Dixit and Prof Roopa Praveen (ASM Group) were the Jury members for the competition.

In the evening function of Mindscape 2016, awards was presided by the Chief Guest Mr Unnikrishnan, MD & CEO Thermax Ltd., who narrated the paradigm shift which has taken place at the global scenario for Management studies. He also said that the events like ASM’s Mindscape competition are very important to bridge the ever increasing gaps in Academic studies and Industry requirements

The Teams from M&M Nasik, MVML Chakan and Tata motors Ltd. won the coveted Mindscape 2016 Main/Special Jury & Live Case Study segments and Endurance Tech,Trikaya Coatings were the close Runners up. The Team from MSL was awarded the Mindscape 2016 Surprise Trophy.

The MINDSCAPE 2016 competition was compered by the faculty & students of ASM group, the concluding remarks were offered by Prof. Roopa Praveen whereas Prof J.A.Kulkarni explained the essence of Mindscape competitions and enabled the smooth conduct of event MINDSCAPE-2016.  She expressed optimism in further popularity and utility of the event as a ‘Hub’ for improving Institute-Industry interactions.

M/S Golden Sparrow Publishers were the Media Partners for MINDSCAPE 2016 and was represented by Mr. Ankit Kankar (senior officer- strategic affairs).

GURU PURNIMA

   

    Journey of a student from a school till graduation or post graduation is always a great story in itself! Some may find their goals and some may find their passion. There will be some who will not find anything that interests them! This journey is guided, enlightened and recognised by one common factor; the teachers! And at the end, it all comes down to what your teacher inspired you to like, to dislike and to be.

    There always is one teacher, one personality, one friend or a mentor who makes all the difference. It’s not necessary the influencer will be from the school. The professor you disliked for all those years might do or say something on the last day of college in those last minutes of the farewell lecture which will give you an immense sense of gratitude and respect.

    Teachers are inspiring, no matter what, either in teaching, understanding, talking, in conducting themselves or simply in listening. They make a never fading impression on the minds of thousands without realising the impact and its existence.

    Today is the occasion to acknowledge those influencers of your life and seek their blessings. Today is our very own, institutional and academic Thanks Giving Day; the Guru Purnima! But “Thank you” is an expression that comes readily to our mouth in tiniest of matters but these people deserve more than just a thank you. They deserve to be duly acknowledged and respected for the debts of knowledge we owe them. They deserve to know our feelings and our views for they were the people who ignited the fire in us and helped us become the masters of our fields!

    All these small-small memories and talks hold a very special place in our heart. This is the time to remember them and let them know that you are enormously grateful for all that they have done and are dominating your thoughts right now! Let them know that you will never forget to remember them no matter what day or what month!

But yes, remember to seek their blessings than saying thank you!
